Off topic / Weight loss before the wedding. The healthy way.

Dont waste your time on pills, herbs or other shortcuts to get thin fast. I can tell you from experience that there is some things that do help a bit but loosing weight and maintaining a healthy weight is a lifetime change and not as easy as the diet or pill commercials etc tell you.

First off a little about me so you can understand, i used to be very chubby and had low self esteem as well as that sometimes to this day i get to busy at weddings and events and i am put in front of wedding cake ( i loooove wedding cake!) and other yummy things and put on the weight again! however i know how to loose it and know the best ways to do it. I have studied weight loss diets in the past and have found the best ways to do it!
Another thing is i work with models who are in print and even on TV to this day making claims that X products work when we both know they dont…

A little info…

Carbs.

Carbs give us energy but if we dont use them they will store as fat.
Simple carbs like sugars found in soft drinks, cordial, sweets etc give us an overwhelming amount of sugar that we wont use, especially if where sitting down at work!
Complex carbs found in such common things as bread and biscuits and even rice will give us energy, we need to use this energy.

Fat.

We need fat… its filled with vitamins and it is healthy for our hearts and bodies…
In my opinion stay away from fats from sausages and other processed meet like pies etc, i knew a butcher and they throw in all the bad stuff!! low quality fat!!
Eat plenty of fish, fish fat is actually good for cholesterol and has many other benefits!

I will now share with you 3 of the easiest ways i have found to loose weight. I only recommend using the 3rd one..
With every diet should come plenty of cardiovascular exercise, get your heart pumping! i recommend at least 1 hour of exercise every day + plenty of walking & drink plenty of water!

There are plenty of different liquid diets (shakes), these shakes have all the right ingredients to speed up your metabolism and give you all the vitamins you need to burn fat faster and are usually low carb shakes.
There are plenty of diets designed to deprive us or carbs, if we do not have any carbs in our diet out body is forced into using up the vitamin filled fat in our bodies for energy.

I do not recommend any of these things because even though you will loose weight fast.. you will put it back on even faster! When you starve your body of carbs your body will naturally fight you and when you eventually start eating carbs again (which you will) your body will store fat twice as fast as it used to so it can put back your fat reservations!

My recommendation

I am not a dietitian but i recommended this to many friends who lost weight and kept it of…
First off i started eating at subway then thought if only i could eat like this all the time.. so i did..
I think there are other diets prepared by a dietitian that would be healthier for the individual but i found this to be easy and healthier then my previous diets or my regular eating habits.

Eat regularly

I see to many people skipping breakfast and having a snack or 2 at lunch then having a normal to large serving at dinner time! Its like a friend of mine told me once, “every action has a reaction” simply put your body is designed to make you survive, it will store fat faster if it feels your going to need it later.. for example if you starve yourself all day. People that snack all day or have regular meals mysteriously are thinner then people who eat one or 2 meal per day..
Make a sandwich when your hungry, rather then eating 2 sandwiches. When im hungry il eat one big one, that way i eat less bread and carbs and i eat more veggies. But guess what, your going to burn all them veggies up in just a few hours and you will be hungry again.. GOOD that’s exactly what we want to do! if you eat one “meal” every few hours your metabolism will double and tipple in just a few days making you a lean mean fat burning machine!
Warning, for the first few days or even weeks you wont get that nice feeling of fullness when you eat a big meal, you will in fact seam hungry much more often especially when you have just eaten your “meal”, this will not last that long and you only have to wait till your body adjusts and gets used to eating small meals often. It is to easy to make yourself a big sandwich of veggies, meat and some sauce.
Make it easy for yourself to find healthy food when your hungry!

Drink plenty of water… why?

There are many advantages of drinking water that i will not go into because i think most people are familiar with this but i will say it will aid you in loosing weight faster, if you want to learn more then use google :wink: AND water will replace your bad habit of drinking sugar water! yes your guilty of this.. stay right way from soft drinks all together, i used to have asthma many years ago and since i stopped drinking soft drinks i started breathing better/ Thats ridiculous you say?… Look up the ingredients in soft drinks.. i did and found plenty alot of the chemicals in soft drinks to cause or irritate asthma sufferers. It worked for me.
Carry a bottle of water everywhere you go and dont leave home without it!
Drink regular and drink plenty.

Carbs in the morning, Fats at night.

So we know carbs give us energy and as long as we use them up we can have some so as a rule of thumb only eat carbs earlier on during the day when we are definitely going to use them up. Give yourself a good start to the day with some oats (carbs), i have mine with sultanas and low fat milk. Have some orange juice for some simple carbs as a “pick me up”.
Keep your fat intake such as fatty fish or fish oil tablets til night time when your heading for bed if you need to eat before you go to bed. Fat slows down your metabolism and we want our metabolism to be fast in the day time to be a lean mean fat burning machine, carbs triggers insulin a chemical reaction to store things such as the fat your eating. Eg: Bodybuilders eat simple carbs to trigger insulin when they eat protein powder so it sores more effective in the muscle.
Stay away from carbs at night! Have a steak and plenty of salad.

Exercise.

Exercise should not be limited to one hour per day, it should be a something you plan, something you want to do.
Exercise every day for at least one hour.. sure… but is this doing your best and are you enjoying it? Exercise can be great fun, join a gym and make it a fun thing for you and your partner… me and my wife go to the gym regularly and even hold hands on the treadmill, as you see it is also good for building relationships and friendships but also your self esteem! Go for a walk, buy a dog and walk it together or go for a jog in the morning or after work. Dont be embarrassed be proud!

Veggies.

Every week buy plenty of veggies, get tomatoes, onions, capsicums, carrots, lettuce, cucumber anything that can possibly be enjoyably in a sandwich. Get containers from any supermarket and every week or few days fill the containers with freshly sliced veggies ready for your sandwiches.

Breads.

Buy wholemeal bread not wholegrain! wholemeal bread contains everything wheat has to offer, it is not as processed as regular (white) wheat in breads, wholegrain is usually just white bread with grains that will help you go to the toilet and give you some vitamins. Buyer beware many breads say wholemeal but they just add some wholemeal into the bread along with the processed junk that is white processed wheat, try to find a bread containing all wholemeal or close to it.
And dont use butter.. NONE!

Meats.

Buy plenty of good meat like fish and chicken and some beef for a change.

Oats and eggs.

After much research i found eggs and oats to be the breakfast of champions!
Protein is needed for muscle growth and there is plenty in eggs it is good to be strong when your loosing weight! but it wont turn you into Arnie dont worry ladies) , i used to have them in my sandwiches all the time.
I have worked with many athletes and i ask them what they eat for breakfast.. usually oats or involves eggs and fruit or fruit drink like orange juice.

Other foods and vitamins.

There are plenty of other foods you can have as snacks i between such as yogurt, fruit, seed snacks like pumpkin or sunflower seeds, rice products like rice or corn crackers, (my wife just added cookies and MnMs.. amm.. NO) but just read the ingredients and start to understand how the food is going to effect you. Look into getting some vitamins or even a good multi vitamin.

I have wrote this from personal experience and study, i am not an expert i just hope to help more people live a fuller happier life and to not only look there best on there wedding day but to keep there new sexy body forever and i also hope there love also lasts just as long.

    This is great advice!
    another cheat thing i do is, if i feel like a soft drink i squeeze limes & lemons and also cut slices of them and put into soda water with heaps of ice. it curbs the craving if you love your soft drinks!!

  6. I used to love soft drinks but i had a coke today & it felt like it didnt quench my thirst. But it did give me a sugar hit which i needed! So tired.. its to hot in Sydney, to hot to sleep, to hot to do anything :(
